What are the functions of ellipsis and examples?
The first function of ellipsis is to omit quotations. In an article, poems and songs, dialogues between characters, or parts of the article are sometimes quoted, but it is impossible to quote all of them, only an important part of them. In this case, use ellipsis.
The second function is to omit enumeration. In the article, sometimes some numbers, times, times and many things are listed, but it is impossible to list them all, just a small part of them. Ellipsis is used at this time.
The third function of ellipsis is to show that you speak hesitatingly, or that your thoughts are intermittent. The fourth function is used at the end of the character's language, indicating that the words are interrupted or forced to stop before they are finished. In addition, ellipsis can also indicate silence, language interruption and unfinished meaning.
