What is push production in lean production?

According to the different ways of issuing production instructions, production methods can be divided into push production and pull production.

Principles of promoting production:

According to the market demand, the planning department calculates the demand of each component and the lead time of each production stage according to the product bill of materials, determines the input-output plan of each component, and issues production instructions and purchase order instructions according to the plan. Each workshop or process produces parts as planned, feeds back the actual completion to the production planning department, and sends the processed parts to the next process or downstream production workshop. The whole process is equivalent to pushing from the previous process to the next process, so this production method is called push production.

Figure 3- 1 is the logistics and information flow diagram of push production. In the push production mode, the workers in each workshop or process start production after receiving the production instruction from the planner until the production task is completed, which is not affected by the previous process or workshop. Its philosophy is: pursue the task ahead of time and overfulfil the task with good quality and quantity. This mode of production is also formed under the guidance of traditional production concepts.
