Do you know the majestic gongs and drums in Linfen, Shanxi? What do you think of this folk art?
The "majestic gongs and drums" circulating in Hongdong, Huoxian and Fenxi in Linfen, Shanxi, is an ancient and traditional folk art form of the Han nationality. In the past, they often performed at temple fairs, praying for God, begging for rain and other activities. Performers dance with their hearts in beating gongs and drums, and integrate the rhythm of life and the desire to pray for a bumper harvest into their performances. The performers' movements are coordinated, uniform and magnificent. When you hit hard, the drums ring and the cymbals flash; When played gently, it moistens the seedlings like spring rain, bringing joy and encouragement to people, thus enhancing the belief of seeking a good year. This should be the artistic conception of "drum with thunder, moisten things silently" in Yi Lian sentence.
The name of majestic gongs and drums is closely related to the performance momentum, but in folklore, it is also mythical, saying that it is related to "Yao Wang abdicated to Shun and married two daughters of E Huang and Nv Ying to Shun". According to the local saying: Yao's hometown is in Hongdong village, and Shun is in the village (it is said that he is in Wan 'an village). On the third day of the third lunar month, people in Xieyang Village formed a solemn ceremony and a gongs and drums team to go to Li Shen Village to welcome girls home. On the eighth day of April, I sent her back to her husband's house. Because it is ceremonial gongs and drums, it is very prestige, so it is called "prestige gongs and drums". There are three routines in Luogu: "Shangkangqu", "Hua Feng Zhu San" and "People praise Yao Wang", all of which are to commemorate and praise Yao Wang's great kindness and virtue. Yao Shun's abdication is a description rendered by later generations. Although there is no textual research on the folk sayings about Yao Wang, it shows the local people's desire for peace, prosperity and adequate food and clothing. Expectations of honest officials who care about the sufferings of the masses. "Three Wishes for Huafeng" originated from the auspicious information in Yao Wang's legend, wishing Yao Wang "wealth (happiness), long life and many men"; In folk auspicious patterns, bergamot, flat peach and pomegranate symbolize "Three Wishes of Huafeng". Therefore, local villagers use the "Three Wishes of Huafeng" to express their wishes for a long life and many children.
When people's ideas have changed, "majestic gongs and drums" have also developed into a dynamic image to show the voices of new farmers. In Linfen, Shanxi Province in September,1990,410 farmers played a great role in the opening ceremony of the 8th Asian Games. The sound of their playing and dancing shook the earth and showed the heroism of the people of China today.
