Introduce Japanese weddings in English.

There are many ways to celebrate weddings in contemporary Japan. Weddings in Japan can be Christian, Buddhist, Shinto and secular.

Traditionally, religious weddings are held in shrines in the form of Shinto.

At a Shinto-style wedding, the bride wears a traditional wedding kimono called shiro-maku, which basically means white and purity. The groom also wears a traditional male kimono. It's called Munsuki.

Although not required, some Japanese brides wear wigs as part of the tradition of kimono wedding dresses. The wig is decorated with a lot of artificial flowers, gold combs and pearls.

A groom wears a haori and the next hakama, all in black.

The groom is also wearing a handmade coat, which outlines his family's coat of arms.

Usually, only the family members and close relatives of the couple attend Shinto-style weddings.
