What is project management? What does it contain?

Project management is a branch of management science. The definition of project management is: it refers to the process of using specialized knowledge, skills, tools and methods in project activities to make the project meet or exceed the set needs and expectations with limited resources.

Project management is the overall monitoring of some activities (such as tasks) related to the successful realization of a series of goals, including planning, arranging and maintaining the activities that constitute the project.

Characteristics of project management:

1. Universality: As a one-off and unique social activity, projects are ubiquitous in all activities of our human society. It can even be said that all the existing material and cultural achievements of mankind were initially realized through projects, because the existing facilities and conditions on which various operations depend were initially built or developed through project activities.

2. Purpose: The purpose of project management is to ensure that the project objectives or indicators clearly put forward by relevant parties are met or exceeded, and to meet the potential needs and pursuits not clearly defined by relevant parties.

3. Uniqueness: The uniqueness of project management lies in that project management is different from the general enterprise production and operation management, and also different from the conventional government and unique management content. This is a completely different management activity.

4. Integration: The integration of project management means that integrated management must be carried out according to the configuration relationship between various elements of a specific project or discipline, and independent management of various disciplines of the project cannot be carried out in isolation.
