Wing Chun's Style of Strength

The style of Wing Chun is called Inch Power. The so-called "inch power" refers to the short, crisp burst of power that comes from the sudden acceleration and contraction of the muscles when the target is very close to the attack, or when the movement is about to be completed.

Inch is a metaphor for the shortness of the distance from the target. The key to a good inch of strength lies in the timing of the acceleration of the action, which should be relaxed in the fist to paste each other's skin (clothes), before suddenly accelerating to burst the maximum strength, commonly known as dip clothes power.

In Wing Chun, Wing Chun masters are able to use the short bridge hand inch power to take the initiative in close combat, once the two sides take over, they do not need to build up momentum to launch a continuous and compact attack, with the sticking to the fight, at a distance of 1-3 inches, or even close to the body state, the power to knock each other down.
