Essay: What is Poverty? 600 words

What is poverty?

Speaking of the word "poverty", people will naturally think of refugees from disaster areas and poor people in undeveloped areas. Their poor life without enough food and clothing is very sad. However, one particular story changed my mind.

The story mainly tells the story of a rich man who took his son on a farm trip so that his son could know the poverty of others. After the son came back, he really felt the poverty. He told his father that there were more dogs on the farm than in his own family. His family was really poor! After reading this story, after laughing, I became even more confused. Is poverty more than just not having enough to eat? This story breaks the traditional concept. Although it is the innocent words of a child, it makes us understand that having enough food and clothing does not mean having everything. Just like the story, maybe people in disaster areas are poor because they lost their homes, children in mountainous areas are poor because they can't study, and even the sons of rich people think they are very poor. From a different perspective, everyone has poverty.

Recently, I saw the article "The Poor" while reading. Although the fisherman couple in the article lived a hard life, they still decisively adopted the two children of their dead neighbor. This action invisibly reflected the great wealth of the fisherman couple, which was a spiritual wealth. At this time, they are no longer poor, but those who are worth millions but have a lot of money have to lower their heads in shame in front of the fisherman and his wife.

In today's society, there are still many rich people who are full of fat. In their eyes, jewelry can reflect their wealth. When they show off arrogantly, little do they know that people only look at these "poor people" with contempt. People who are noble on the outside but empty on the inside are not worthy of our worship; only those who live a simple life but are kind-hearted are worthy of our respect.

What is poverty and what is wealth? Everyone must be aware of this.

The flashy shell is no longer the point, the wealth in our hearts is the true meaning of life
