Taking the Volkswagen new Passat as an example, the OBD diagnostic interface is 16 pins, and the 16th pin is the long distance line. Pin 4 and pin 5 are ground wires. pin 1 15a ignition switch control wire. Pin 7 is the K diagnostic lead. Pins 2, 3, 6 and 8 are the CAN high bus. Pins 9, 10, 11 and 14 are the CAN low bus. Pin 15 is the airbag diagnostic lead. Pins 12 and 13 are in the empty position.
