How is loyalty correctly explained?

There are two interpretations of the word "loyalty" in Ci Yuan, one refers to "integrity" and the other refers to "loyalty and filial piety". However, in the eyes of many people, the meaning of the word "loyalty" has been distorted, and in a narrow sense, it has become "doing anything for friends". Actually loyalty is a principle. If you don't distinguish right from wrong and cater to the improper needs of your friends regardless of the consequences, this loyalty is a kind of ignorance and blind obedience, which is extremely incompatible with modern civilized society. When people know each other, it is very important to know each other. If you get entangled with so-called "friends" with ulterior motives, you may fall into a maze of things that don't distinguish, thus harming others and yourself.

Modern civilized society stresses law and morality, not "loyalty". Now the explanation of "loyalty" should be understood as a narrow idea, that is, to overcome difficulties, take risks and even sacrifice some of their own interests because of the relationship between individuals or friends. It is a kind of moral consciousness in feudal society.
