Professor Bai Guixi has been engaged in the teaching and research of ethnology and anthropology for a long time. Research interests: national society and culture, folk religion and belief, symbolic anthropology, national culture and cultural heritage protection. Among them, he has made outstanding achievements in scientific research. In more than 65,438 authoritative or core journals in China, he has published the Marriage between Hu and Han in the First Marriage of Hu People in the Northern Dynasties (Ethnic Studies, No.6, 2007), Changes in the Social Structure of Contemporary Tujia People (Ethnic Studies, No.4, 2006, 5438+0), A New Interpretation of Enoch, etc. There are more than 50 academic papers, many of which have been reprinted, picked up or comprehensively evaluated by the National People's Congress, Journal of Minzu University of China, and Abstract of the Journal of Liberal Arts in Higher Education. Published monograph 15 or edited or participated in the compilation of related works. Academic achievements have won many provincial and ministerial awards.

He presided over two national social science fund projects: research on the modern utilization and protection of traditional knowledge of ethnic minorities-taking Tujia nationality in Wuling area as an example (2007) and research on the excavation, utilization and protection of traditional ecological knowledge of Tujia nationality in Wuling mountain area under the background of ecological civilization construction (2013); He presided over more than ten provincial or ministerial or horizontal scientific research projects: Hubei Social Science Fund Project "Study on the Modern Value and Protection of Tujia Traditional Knowledge"; Hubei Ethnography, a major scientific research project in Hubei Province; Revision of the key scientific research projects of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission: Study on Tujia Issues, Study on Urbanization in Southwest Ethnic Areas and Brief History of Miao Nationality; National Ethnic Affairs Commission's scientific research project "Research on the Protection of Traditional Knowledge of Ethnic Minorities". At present, Professor Bai Guixi has trained more than 40 master's and doctoral students majoring in ethnology and religion, such as the research project of ethnic minorities' ecological culture and ecological civilization construction by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the major project of Luncong in Sydney, Hainan (the first batch), the research on social and cultural changes in harmonious areas of Li nationality, the postdoctoral fund project of China Academy of Social Sciences, the horizontal project, the research on customary law in Qingjiang River basin, and the special fund project of basic scientific research operation funds of central universities.
