What do dance gestures express? It can express joy, sadness, anger, surprise and other normal life, and can express the "characters" such as Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu, etc., together with the ten incarnations of Krishna, previously issued the four major Vedic dances, of which the Bharatanatyam (Brahma Dance) can be expressed with gestures such as 1) swimming fish, 2) prostrate turtle, 3) long fangs Rahula, 4) Krishna with a flute, 5) compassionate Buddha. The bharatanatyam is able to express with gestures such as (1) the swimming fish, (2) the prostrate tortoise, (3) the long-fanged Rādhārā?a, (4) Krishna with the flute, (5) the merciful Buddha, (6) the sword-carrying Gargī, and so on; and with body movements such as (7) the swimming fish, (8) Rāmā holding a bow, and (9) Krishna holding a flute, and so on, each of which has its corresponding body movement, and when danced in a coherent fashion, the audience is able to discern the contents of the story of the particular incarnation.
