Traditional customs of Shishou

Spring Festival is usually called China New Year. On the first day of the first lunar month, it will be dawn, and the whole family should be dressed neatly. They will gather in the hall, burn incense and wax, worship their ancestors and then open the door. (Call "open the door") Light incense sticks, set off firecrackers, worship the heavens and the earth and call it "going out", and then the younger generation will pay New Year greetings to their elders in turn. On the second and third days, relatives and friends in the neighborhood will worship each other. From the first day to the third day, you are not allowed to cook fresh rice at home, to carry water to sweep the floor, and to move needles and scissors. On the third day, "burning door god paper". From the first day to the fifteenth day, there are dragon dances, lion dances, colorful lotus boats, clam shell essence, singing ground flower drums, walking on stilts, children playing with grass sticks, dragons and other recreational activities, commonly known as "playing with spring scenery". After the fifteenth, "playing with spring scenery" stopped and began to farm, but the grass could play with dragons until the birthday of the Land Bodhisattva on the second day of February.
