In 2006, Shu embroidery was selected as one of the first national representative works of intangible cultural heritage.
Shu embroidery, also known as "Sichuan embroidery", is a traditional China craft, which embroiders patterns on silk or other fabrics with silk thread. Shu embroidery was first recorded in the Western Han Dynasty. At that time, the technology was quite mature, and it also inherited the characteristics of bright colors and commonly used red and green colors.
On May 20th, 2006, Shu Embroidery was approved by the State Council and selected into the first batch of China national intangible cultural heritage list.
