What kind of rabbit is the Chinese White Rabbit

The white rabbit is one of the oldest rabbit breeds in our country, and is counted among the finest in the world.

The white rabbit, also known as the vegetable rabbit[note*1], makes its home throughout the country, with the largest population in the Chengdu area of Sichuan province. Chinese white rabbits are small rabbits, with newborn babies weighing about 50 grams, and when they reach adulthood they can weigh 1.8 kg to 2.3 kg, with females a bit heavier than males.

Although small in size, white rabbits are compact and well-proportioned, with clean faces and short vertical ears. The coat is short, dense and soft, and in addition to pure white, there are black, gray, blue-purple and flower colors. Among the rabbits of different colors, only white rabbits have red eyes, while the rest of the rabbits have black or brown eyes.

Being indigenous, the most outstanding advantage is its tenacity of life. White rabbits are well adapted to the external environment and rarely suffer from phenomena such as water and soil disorders, and are highly resistant to diseases. In pet rabbits, there are not many that are as leathery as the white rabbit.

The white color is classified as "gold" in the traditional Chinese "five elements," symbolizing light and abundance, as well as purity. Ancient people often wore white rabbit decorations as a symbol of good fortune and auspiciousness.
