Origin of the festival
People's Day originates from ancient Chinese creation myths and legends. The order in which the heavens created all things was as follows: chickens on the first day of the first month, dogs on the second day, pigs on the third day, sheep on the fourth day, oxen on the fifth day, horses on the sixth day, and human beings on the seventh day. "It was not until the seventh day of the first month that man was created. The seventh day of the first month, the 'Day of Man,' symbolizes the origin of mankind. Because the first six days represented the birthdays of the animals, they were all forgotten after a long time, but the seventh day was consciously preserved because it concerned man himself."
