The difference between the category view of cognitive linguistics and the traditional category view

The traditional category view holds that all categories are discrete categories, and each category has its own "defining characteristics". Those who meet certain "defining characteristics" become members of a category, and vice versa. The "definition feature" is owned by all members of this category, so all members in this category have equal status. Cognitive linguistics holds that the categories established by people, including grammatical categories, are mostly "typical categories" rather than discrete categories. Category cannot be defined by "defining characteristics". The boundaries between categories are vague, and the status of members in a category is unequal. Some are typical members of the category, and some are atypical members.
