Hydrological information

1, introduction of hydrological information

Hydrological information includes hydrological information and reports, and hydrological information that is not reported is not hydrological information. Hydrological information refers to hydrological information selectively collected and sent for specific tasks such as flood control and drought relief. Judging from the scope and spatial distribution of hydrological elements, hydrological information is only a part of the whole hydrological information.

Because the change of hydrological situation is more and more influenced by human activities, in order to do a good job in hydrological forecasting, the collection scope of hydrological information system has been expanded to non-hydrological elements such as engineering information and social information, but this meaning should be specially explained to avoid misunderstanding.

2. Method

Historically, water regime work began with flood information sent by stations through post offices. The terms "send a telegram" and "report a flood" have been used for decades. Although the content and form have been greatly expanded since then, the essence of "flood" has not changed, and these idioms can still be used without hindering understanding.

In order to obtain hydrological information, it is necessary to establish a scientific and reasonable hydrological station network, which is usually selected and supplemented on the basis of the existing hydrometeorological station network. Hydrological station network is divided into perennial hydrological station network, flood season hydrological station network and auxiliary hydrological station network.

According to the provisions of the competent department, the hydrological station network regularly or at any time publishes the hydrological information of the designated project by means of telephone, telegraph and communication satellite. In the early 1950s, China formulated the Hydrological Information Forecasting Method to guide the hydrological information work.

When some serious hydrological conditions (such as rainstorm, mountain torrents, dike burst or other special circumstances) occur or may occur, which will endanger people's lives and property or the safety of towns, dikes and engineering facilities, the local hydrological station directly sends an alarm to nearby residents, factories and mines and urban and rural flood control departments by broadcasting and firing guns, which is called hydrological alarm.
