What are the means of navigation

For determining the position of the ship and to ensure the safe navigation of the instrument of the collective term, mainly navigation positioning instruments. Navigation positioning instruments can be roughly divided into four categories for track projection, landmark positioning, astronomical positioning (see astronomical navigation) and radio positioning (see ship radio navigation).

1, navigation gyro compass

The gyro compass is made according to the principle of high-speed rotation of the gyro rotor directivity. It is an electro-mechanical instrument that is not affected by magnetic field and has strong pointing force. A main compass can drive many sets of sub-compass, can be set up inside and outside the cockpit, the captain's room, the chart room, etc., sub-compass, is an important instrument for ship navigation, observation of the position of the object.

2, marine echo sounder

Echo sounder is a measurement of water depth of the ship's hydroacoustic navigation instruments, in the ship's navigation, the depth of water on the route to formulate and ensure the safety of the ship's navigation plays an important role. Echo sounder has the following uses: under special circumstances, it can be used to recognize the ship's position by measuring the water depth; when opening up a new navigational area or navigating in shallow water, it can be used for navigation to ensure the safety of the ship's navigation; in the measurement of waterways and ports, it can provide accurate and reliable information on the water depth. Therefore, echo sounder is an essential navigation equipment for ships.

3, marine range meter

Marine range meter is used to determine the ship's navigation speed and the cumulative ship's range of a navigation instrument. Accurately measure the ship's navigation speed and range, the ship driving is extremely important, in ship navigation and positioning, as long as there is a gyro compass or magnetic compass to provide the ship's heading and range meter to provide the range, you can get the ship's projected ship position. Modern navigation systems and equipment, such as true motion radar, ARPA and automatic integrated navigational instruments need to enter the ship's speed information in order to work. In the maneuvering of large or super-large ships berthed at the pier, the speedometer is also needed to provide the longitudinal and transverse speed relative to the pier to ensure that the ship is safely berthed at the pier. Therefore, the range finder is one of the important navigation instruments that are indispensable for modern ships.
