Can thrombus recanalization restore normal blood circulation?
1. When a thrombus occurs, the distal tissue has not yet become necrotic. In this case, the blood supply to the distal end can be restored by utilizing the undamaged blood vessels at the distal end after eliminating the thrombus. That is, the original blood circulation path is restored.
2. After the occurrence of thrombus, the distal tissues have been necrotic (including the blood vessels in the distal tissues). In this case, even if the thrombus is eliminated, the distal tissues can not be "alive" again. The purpose of thrombus elimination is to promote the establishment of collateral circulation, i.e., through the growth of new blood vessels to "restore" the blood supply to the distal end (mainly to save the peripheral tissues that have not yet been necrotic).
