Which mountain is the head of the Five Mountains?
Mount Tai, also known as Daishan, Daizong, Daiyue, Dongyue and Taiyue, is one of the five mountains, and is known as "the head of the five mountains" and "the first mountain in the world". Located in the middle of Shandong Province, it belongs to Tai 'an City, covering three cities of Tai 'an, Jinan and Zibo, with a total area of 24,200 hectares. The elevation of Yuhuangding, the main peak, is 1, 532.7 meters.
Mount Tai, bearing rich geographical, historical and cultural connotations, was regarded by the ancients as a paradise "directly to the throne" and became a sacred mountain worshipped by the people and emperors. There is a saying that "Mount Tai is safe and the world is safe". From Qin Shihuang to Qing Dynasty, 13 emperors went to Mount Tai for meditation or sacrifice, and 24 emperors sent officials to sacrifice 72 times. There are 29 ancient buildings such as temples, palaces and temples, 28 ancient sites 128, and more than 2,000 large and small stone tablets and cliff carvings.
Introduction of geological characteristics of Mount Tai;
The geological structure of Mount Tai is very complex, mainly faults, and its structural feature is the inclined uplift of fault blocks. There are structures formed in Precambrian, Mesozoic and Cenozoic.
The Precambrian geological structure of Mount Tai is characterized by multi-stage folds, faults and ductile shear zones. They are superimposed and transformed with each other, forming extremely complex structural features, and the study of their genetic mechanism is one of the important contents of Precambrian geological research. In addition, the rare "tubular structure" of Mesoproterozoic diabase porphyrite at home and abroad has high scientific value.
From the perspective of regional structure, the strong subduction of the Pacific plate to the Eurasian plate in the near east-west direction made the Taishan area tilt strongly to the front fault in the near north-south direction, and Taishan rose sharply, which made the neotectonic movement of Taishan very common and intense, and they played a leading role in controlling the formation and geomorphological pattern of Taishan. The gravity sliding structure formed on the unconformity surface of lower Paleozoic and Precambrian crystalline basement around Mount Tai is also closely related to neotectonic movement.
