Animation refers to a process that occurs when a number of still frames are played back in succession. Whether the still frames are computer-generated, hand-drawn, or just clay models that are altered slightly one at a time, and then filmed, the single frames are strung together and played back at 16 or more frames per second to give the eye the illusion of continuous motion (due to visual residuals).
Often these films are produced by a lot of intensive and tedious labor, even as computer animation technology advances and develops.
History of Development
The period from 1922 to 1945 was a period of germination and exploration, when American animated films such as "Jumping Out of Ink Bottles" landed one after another in Shanghai in 1918, which made the Chinese people, who were in a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, fascinated by the magical animated films. With the belief of creating their own cartoons, the first generation of Chinese animators, represented by Wan Lai Ming, Wan Gu Chan and Wan Chao Chen, came into being and became the founding fathers of Chinese animation.
After their painstaking exploration and development, China's first advertising cartoon "Shu Zhendong Chinese Typewriter" was produced in 1922. After that, in 1924, China Film Company filmed the animated film "Dog Treats" and Shanghai Tobacco Company filmed the animated film "Chinese New Year". These two films were the earliest animated films in China.
But neither of them made an impact, and the one that did was The Big Trouble in the Drawing Room, drawn by the Wan Brothers in 1926. 1935 saw the release of China's first animated cartoon with sound, The Camel Offers a Dance, and then the release of China's first full-length animated cartoon, Princess of the Iron Fan, in 1941.
