Yan' an traditional customs
During the Spring Festival, every household in Yan 'an, Shaanxi Province is brightly lit. Set off firecrackers, have a "reunion dinner", and the younger generation toasted the elders and resigned. Adults should give dolls "lucky money". It is a night when everyone is having fun and staying up all night, which is called "staying up late for the New Year". After midnight, firecrackers exploded, and the old customs began to "welcome the Western gods". People hold lanterns and candles and go to the nearest temple to compete for incense.
After that, people worship their ancestors, and then neighbors pay New Year greetings to each other. Before the sun comes out, the whole family will eat "Fu jiaozi". If you can eat the copper coins wrapped in jiaozi, who do you think is the luckiest this year? At noon, the whole village will gather in the open space at the head of the village and burn a fire to worship the sky, which is called "going out" to pray for the safety of people and animals.
