What are the core devices of optical module?

The function of optical module is photoelectric conversion, in which the internal optical devices are the core components for photoelectric conversion.

Optical devices consist of two parts: transmission and reception.

At present, TOSA, ROSA and BOSA are commonly used optical modules.

1. fighting dog

TOSA is the abbreviation of transmitter optical component, and its main function is to convert electrical signals into optical signals.

It is mainly composed of laser, mould sleeve and adapter, isolator and adjusting ring in long-distance optical module. It consists of a light source as the core, an LD chip, a monitoring photodiode (MD) and other components packaged together.

2. Rosa

ROSA is the abbreviation of Receiver Optical component, and its main function is to convert optical signals into electrical signals.

It is mainly composed of detectors and adapters. In high data rate optical fiber module, PIN or ADP photodiode and TIA are usually assembled.

3.BOSA

BOSA is the abbreviation of bidirectional optical subassembly, and its main function is to convert optical signals and electrical signals to each other.

It is mainly composed of a transmitting laser, a receiving detector, an adapter, a filter, a base, an isolator and a mold sleeve, or an assembly that integrates TOSA and ROSA into a transceiver (LD and PIN/APD) of a light source through coaxial coupling, plus a separator, an optical fiber and the like.
