At present, the intellectuals in our country are ().

At present, intellectuals in China are part of the working class. Intellectuals are one of the four major workers in China society: workers, peasants, soldiers and intellectuals, that is, intellectuals are mental workers and professional and technical workers. Teachers, doctors, engineers and scientists are all typical intellectuals. ?

First, intellectuals:

Intellectuals are brainworkers with high educational level, who mainly create, accumulate, spread, manage and apply scientific and cultural knowledge. They are distributed in scientific research, education, engineering technology, culture and art, medical and health care and other fields, and are the main body of China's "middle-income class". As a political concept and a relatively independent social stratum, intellectuals will exist for a long time, and eventually disappear with the high development of productivity and the disappearance of differences between workers and peasants, between urban and rural areas, and between mental and physical labor.

Second, the working characteristics of intellectuals:

Different historical periods have different contents and characteristics of intellectual work. After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, China entered a new historical development period. The changes in the content and structure of intellectual work in the new period determine the characteristics of intellectual work, which are mainly manifested as follows:

1, social. Intellectual work is a huge systematic project, which determines that intellectual work has a wide range of sociality. This is mainly because:

First, the number of intellectuals has been increasing with the development of various social construction undertakings, from 2 million in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic to more than 60 million now. They exist in almost all fields and aspects of society. Generally speaking, where there are crowds, there are more or less intellectuals. The ubiquitous existence of intellectuals is a sign of social development and progress. It can be predicted that the more the society develops, the stronger the sociality of intellectual labor.

Second, the ubiquitous existence of intellectuals determines that the work of intellectuals must be a kind of social work. This work is not a matter of any department, but a common task of the whole party and society. Only with the concerted efforts of Party committees, governments, departments and units at all levels, can we do a good job in intellectual work.

Third, intellectuals are a group of social people, but as far as intellectuals are concerned, they exist widely among the people.

Therefore, doing a good job of intellectuals is not only a problem for intellectuals themselves, but also involves all fields of society and needs the support and understanding of people from all walks of life. While doing a good job of intellectuals themselves, we should also do a good job in all aspects of society to ensure the smooth development of intellectual work. ?

2. Particularity. This is the most striking feature that distinguishes the work of intellectuals from other jobs. The particularity of intellectual work is determined by the special position and role of intellectuals in China's economic and social development, by China's strategy of "rejuvenating the country through science and education" and "strengthening the country through talents", and by the demand for knowledge and intellectuals in world economic competition, comprehensive national strength competition, social development and national security. Nowadays, the competition of social and economic development is, in the final analysis, the competition of talents. Whoever seizes the commanding heights of talents will have the initiative in competition. In the new century and new stage, vigorously implementing the strategy of strengthening the country through talents is an inevitable choice to enhance China's comprehensive national strength and international competitiveness. In addition, due to historical reasons, there are three decisive factors in China, which are subordinate to the first three decisive factors.

First, China's special historical environment. Due to social and historical reasons, the number of intellectuals in China is small, which is in sharp contradiction with the demand for intellectuals in social development. Therefore, after entering the new century, under the new situation of reform and opening up, it has become an urgent and important strategic task for us at present and in the future to cultivate a large number of talents and create a scientific and technological team that is red and specialized in adapting to China's economic and social development, and to generally improve the scientific and cultural quality of the whole nation through them.

Second, the social fashion of "respecting knowledge, knowledge, talents and creation" needs to be further strengthened. It should be said that this fashion has made great progress than in the past, but it is far from enough. In the final analysis, "rejuvenating the country through science and education" means rejuvenating the country through knowledge and talents, but at present, the view of relying on scientific and technological progress to develop social economy and the concept of strengthening the country through talents have not been recognized by the whole society, or the understanding is not deep. Therefore, we still need to do a lot of long-term and arduous work to continue to eliminate the influence of wrong ideas that despise knowledge and intellectuals, and to continue to eliminate the influence of narrow ideas of small-scale production, and to turn the party's policy of "respecting labor, knowledge, talents and creation" into the conscious action of the whole society.

Third, intellectuals still have some problems and difficulties in their work and life, especially in some extremely poor enterprises and restructured enterprises and institutions, which need to be solved gradually. It is undoubtedly a long-term task to solve the work and life difficulties of intellectuals by economic development and national strength enhancement. However, a deep understanding of improving the treatment of intellectuals and striving to improve their working and living conditions is based on the long-term interests of the party and the country, which is consistent with the interests of the people. It is an important measure to fully mobilize the enthusiasm and creativity of intellectuals, give play to their professional expertise, and make contributions to the construction of socialist material civilization, political civilization and spiritual civilization. Understanding the particularity of mental work is very important for doing it well. ?

3. Long-term. This feature of intellectual work is determined by the goal of our party and the historical task of the new century. To realize socialist modernization, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the * * * productism in the future, we must fully develop science and technology and rely on the joint efforts of the broad masses of intellectuals and workers and peasants. The long-term nature of economic and social development in China determines the long-term nature of intellectual work. The fundamental purpose of intellectual work is to fully mobilize the enthusiasm and creativity of intellectuals and accelerate the pace of socialist construction in China. Therefore, the work of intellectuals is not a temporary task, but a long-term task, which can only be strengthened at any time and under any circumstances.

4. arduous. The work of intellectuals in the new century and stage is a new topic with strategic significance under the new historical conditions. The arduous task of China's economic construction and the serious deviation of intellectual policy in history determine the arduousness of intellectual work. China's accession to the WTO has brought good opportunities and severe challenges to China's national economic and social development, talent team building and intellectual work.

The biggest challenge is talent competition. In order to meet the needs of economic construction and the party's intellectual policy, we must formulate a set of intellectual policies and regulations to mobilize the enthusiasm of intellectuals from all walks of life. It is necessary to change people's traditional ideas, create a social atmosphere of "respecting labor, knowledge, talents and creation", and raise people's awareness of the importance of intellectual work, especially leaders at all levels.

Practice has proved that it takes efforts to achieve this. The work of intellectuals under the new situation in the new century is not only a major event, but also a very difficult fact. We should fully understand the arduousness of intellectual work, establish the viewpoint of reform and innovation, forge ahead, persevere and struggle for a long time, and constantly create a new situation in our work.
