The best castle in Britain is 16, with beautiful pictures-the top castle in Britain.

When I think of England, I think of castles. Many people think of castles and medieval fortresses first. Although Britain is famous for its castles, not many complete castles have actually been preserved. I have always dreamed of owning a castle. Who hasn't? But I know that the British can't protect their heritage carefully. Not to mention a castle costs millions to buy! "

I decided to compile a list of my favorite English castles (the list of Scotland and Wales will be published soon). According to my hobby, this list is completely arbitrary. I have only been to two of them (Windsor and the Tower of London) (we have been to several of them since the book was published in 2009).

I must give credit when it expires. I want to thank * * * for providing such wonderful and interesting trivia! Except for two photos, all the photos are from excellent photographers on Flickr who are willing to share photos. It is interesting to do research for this article. I hope you like it! Please tell me your favorite castle in the comments! "

Her palace and castle, often called the Tower of London (known as the Tower of London in history), are historical sites on the north bank of the Thames in central London, England. It is located in the Hamrez district of the Tower of London, separated from the open space called Tower Hill on the east edge of London.

The Tower of London is often considered as the White Tower. The original Stark Square Fort was built by William the Conqueror in 1078. However, the whole tower is a complex of several buildings, which are located between two concentric defensive walls and a moat.

The main functions of this tower are fortresses, palaces and prisons (especially for high-ranking and royal prisoners, such as the prince in the tower and the future queen Elizabeth I). For the local people, this church is an additional parish, and the castle is the official residence of Lord St. Levan. Many cultural relics are preserved in the castle, mainly armor and antique furniture. St. Michael's Church is a15th century building. It has a tower surrounded on all sides. In one corner of the tower is a small tower, which is used to guide ships. The church rock on the beach is a symbol of the holy land of the Virgin Mary, and pilgrims will stop here to worship before climbing the holy mountain. Several houses were built on the hillside opposite Marazion, and a spring provided them with water.

Skippen Castle is located in Skippen Town, North Yorkshire, England. This castle has been preserved for more than 900 years and was built by Norman Baron Robert de Romil in 1090.

This castle has stood for 900 years, and was originally built by Norman Baron Rober de Romille as Mott Castle and Bailey Castle in 1090. The castle was soon replaced by a stone castle, because the castle built by old Mott and Bailey was not enough to resist the Scottish attack to the north. 13 10, Edward II awarded the property of the castle to Robert Clifford, and Robert Clifford was appointed as the guardian of Skipton and Lord Clifford of craven. Robert Clifford ordered many improvements to the fortifications of the castle, but he died in the Battle of Bannockburn in 13 14, when these improvements were hardly completed.

During the English Civil War, it was the only royalist stronghold in northern England until 1645 and 65438+February. After three years of siege, oliver cromwell negotiated with the royalists and surrendered on 1645. Oliver cromwell ordered the roof of the castle to be demolished. Skipton was a major member of Clifton family before 1676. Mrs Anne Clifford (1590- 1676) was the last Mrs Clifford to own Skipton Castle. After three years of siege, she ordered the restoration of the castle and planted a yew tree in the central courtyard as a souvenir to commemorate the restoration of the castle in the English Civil War.

Today, it is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Britain, which is both a tourist attraction and a private residence.

* * * Description:

Herve Castle, located in Herve Village, Kent, England, is the seat of Bolin, originally a "Bulun" family. Originally a country villa, it was built in13rd century, and 1462 was transformed into a manor by former London mayor Jeffrey Bolin. The remains of the wooden house can still be seen in the stone walls of the fortifications. Some time after 1505, the Bolin family moved in. Although anne boleyn (and her brothers and sisters mary boleyn and George Bolin) may not have been born here, they did grow up here for a while, and then she was sent to the Netherlands, and then she was killed between 15 13 and 152 1. 1533, Anne secretly married King Henry VIII of England; 1536, she and her brother George were executed, and her father Thomas Boleyn died on 1539. This property belongs to Henry VIII. When Anne declared their marriage null and void in cleaves (1540), he gave it to her, but she may spend little time there. Hefu Castle still retains a private lock of Henry's, which he took with him when he visited aristocratic houses many times and installed on every door to ensure his safety.

The building later passed by different owners, including the Waldgraf family in 1557 and the Midwaldo family in 1749- 1903. In the later period of ownership, the castle fell into a bad state of maintenance. During this period, the castle was rented to various private tenants until 1906 was acquired and completely restored by American millionaire William assor, who used the castle as his family residence. This manor is now a conference center, but the castle is open to the public and is famous for its maze. The only authentic part of Haifu Castle is the concierge. There are exhibits from different historical periods in the castle, including instruments of torture and Kent Manley Museum.
