Introduction to German Education

The German education system developed mainly from the Middle Ages onwards. At first, the right to education was reserved for the aristocracy and the clergy, and then it was gradually popularized to the general public, so that the system of education for all flourished. The tradition of compulsory education was built under the influence of Martin Luther, and the Kingdom of Prussia was one of the first countries in the world to establish a national education system.
