Tangshan Folk Art Museum was completed in Dazhao Park in the spring of 2002, covering an area of 5 mu with a building area of 1000 square meters. It is a public welfare undertaking created by private capital. In 2004, it was named as a patriotic education base by Tangshan Municipal Committee. The history of Tangshan civilization can be traced back to the Neolithic Age, about four or five thousand years ago. Tangshan Jidong Folk Art Museum mainly displays outstanding folk culture and art with the regional cultural characteristics of Jidong, including traditional folk arts and crafts such as Laoting Drum, Yutian Clay Sculpture, Luanxian Shadow Play, as well as folk daily necessities and farm tools, local literati paintings and calligraphy, folk stone carvings and building components, Tangshan ancient folk ceramics, Tangshan historical stories, etc. It allows you to experience the long history of ancient Tangshan, understand and appreciate Tangshan's quaint folk customs and unique folk art, and appreciate the precious cultural heritage of our ancestors. Besides, you can also enjoy a wonderful shadow play. It has formed a fine work of art integrating folk art, sculpture art and opera costumes. Because of its excellent quality, simple style and easy preservation, it is called "the living fossil of China arts and crafts". Historical relics and sculptures of modern artists in the Ming and Qing Dynasties have become art treasures collected by museums and collectors all over the world.
