A marching band of marching wind music.

Wind group, percussion group and visual performance group (national flag team). Commonly known as the flag team, there are mainly flag dances, unarmed dances and performances of various musical instruments and props. At present, there are many forms of military bands in the world, and there are basically two main competitions: military bands and drum teams or drums &; Horn marching band and marching brass band.

Historically, the formation of these two types of marching wind bands is usually completed in two ways: addition or subtraction, that is, subtracting instruments unsuitable for marching from the original indoor wind band or adding instruments such as tuba, tenor, marching horn and flo to the original drum team (wind instruments only have trumpet or keyless trumpet). These two methods are also suitable for the young pioneers' orchestral bands and drums in primary and secondary schools in China.

First, the indoor band turned into a marching band.

At present, the indoor band of primary and middle school students in China has become quite popular, especially in large and medium-sized cities and economically developed coastal areas. It is relatively easy to rebuild a marching band on the basis of an indoor band, as long as some musical instruments (such as bassoon and oboe) are deducted, some musical instruments are replaced, percussion instruments are added, and a flag team is formed.

Marching wind bands generally don't use oboes and bassoons. Bassoon and oboe have low volume and expensive instruments, so it is more difficult to learn and master playing methods than other instruments. Therefore, most student bands do not have bassoons and oboes are not widely used. If there are good oboe players, they can be retained and grouped with clarinet. Therefore, the main problems in the transformation of indoor wind band are the supplement of percussion instruments and the replacement of musical instruments. The number of percussion players in indoor wind bands is relatively small. On the one hand, new percussion players can be added, and the original oboe and bassoon players can be used to replace drums, cymbals and other professions with relatively low technical requirements. If the conditions are limited, the replacement of marching instruments can also be carried out step by step. The first thing to change is percussion instruments, because percussion instruments play a very important role in marching bands, and their timbre and playing methods are very different from traditional percussion instruments. Followed by the marching horn, the mouth of the traditional horn is opposite to other instruments, so it is easy to have the problem of sound balance when the marching direction changes. Again, tenor, alto, tuba. The flag team can be composed of the original dance team or rhythmic gymnastics team, or a new special flag team.

Second, the drum team rebuilt the brass band.

Brass bands can learn from DCI's development model. DCI Military Band World Championship is the highest level military band competition in the world at present, and its playing skills and concepts have had an important impact on military bands in various countries. The DCI World Championships are divided into four groups, among which the number of bands in the champion group is 1, and the composition is as follows:

Wind band (brass or bugle line): 64-68 people, there are four original B-key instruments, namely trumpet, marching horn, alto horn and marching tuba, and there are also orchestras using G-key brass instruments, namely G tenor, mellophone alto horn and bass horn. Some are fine, and the trumpet components are: alto and cornet; ; The marching horn consists of: Mai Le Yin and Fu Luger; ; The upper and lower horns are divided into baritone and trombone; ;

Percussion group: (percussion) 27-30 people, divided into marching percussion group or field percussion line (17-24 people) and former percussion group (i.e. non-marching percussion group) 10- 12 people.

March and percussion compilation:

Snare drum for snare drum: 8- 10, tenor for alto drum (quartet): 4-5, and bass drum: 5.

Visual performance group: (visual ensemble) 36-40 people, mainly performing dance, flag dance, rifle dance and saber music.

Although it is impossible to reach the level of DCI in a short time in China, it can be gradually upgraded from the drum team. Like the formation of a mixed marching band, the percussion group should be upgraded first, and then French horn, marching tenor, trombone and marching tuba should be added gradually if conditions permit.

Music scores used by marching bands are generally specially assigned to marching bands, and the texture is simple. Use the big harmony of the whole band, not the harmony of each part. Clarinet, flute and saxophone basically use the same score as brass trumpet and tenor, while the content of the log part necessary for music is transferred to percussion instruments such as Malimba and vibrato. So even if the woodwind part is removed, the score will not affect the harmony structure of the band, and it is pure.
