Translation

The water and sky are connected, and the morning mist covers the clouds and waves. The Milky Way is about to turn, and a thousand sails are drifting like shuttles on the waves. The dreaming soul seems to go back to the heavenly court, the heavenly emperor sends a message to invite each other. I'd like to ask: Where do you want to go?

They said, "It's a long way to go, and it's not too early to say goodbye to the end of the day. I have learned to make poetry, and in vain I have been praised for my wonderful lines. The sky is ninety thousand miles long, and the roc is flying high in the sky. The wind! Don't stop, send my boat to the three islands of Penglai.

Works Appreciation1

The Fisherman's Pride is unique in Li Qingzhao's collection of poems and has always attracted attention. The following is the appreciation of Mr. Xu Peijun, director of the Chinese Poetry Society.

This is an alternative work of Li Qingzhao, a poet of the Euphemism school, with an obvious style of boldness, and it is the only Romantic masterpiece seen in Li's words.

At the beginning of the poem, a vast and magnificent picture of the sea and sky is shown. Such an open and atmospheric realm is rarely seen in the words of the Tang and Five Dynasties and the two Songs. Writing about the sky, clouds, fog, starry river, thousands of sails, the scene is already very magnificent, which is accurately embedded in a few verbs, the scene is painted as alive, dynamic and just like. The words "connect" and "connect" naturally combine the canopy, the surging waves, and the diffuse clouds, forming a kind of boundless realm. The words "turn" and "dance" convey to the readers the feelings of the wordsmith in the wind and waves, which are realistically conveyed to the readers. The so-called "starry river wants to turn" is about the lyricist looking up at the sky from the bumpy cabin, and the Milky Way in the sky seems to be turning. The phrase "a thousand sails dancing" is about a gale blowing on the sea, and countless boats and ships darting forward in the wind and waves. The boat swaying sails dance, the stars and rivers want to turn, both rich in life's sense of reality, but also has the dream of illusion, virtual and real, for the whole piece of strange feelings of Zhuangzai set the tone.

Because this song is about "dreaming", the next three sentences are "as if". These three lines write that the lyricist saw the emperor of heaven in his dream. The word "dream" is the key to the whole lyric. After sailing on the sea, the lyricist's dream soul seems to have ascended to heaven and met the kind Heavenly Emperor. In the realm of fantasy, the lyricist portrays a heavenly emperor with a gentle attitude and concern for the people's welfare. "Although it is just an exceptionally concise question, it is full of deep feelings, and implies a beautiful ideal.

In general, in the double-stacked words, usually the upper part of the scene, the lower part of the lyric, and the beginning and end of their own. In the second part of the poem, it is either to put down a stroke, or to carry on the meaning of the previous part of the poem, and the meaning is constantly broken, but there is also relative independence. This word is between the upper and lower two pieces, a breath of air, closely linked. The last two sentences of the first piece are about the question of the emperor, and the second sentence of the second piece is about the answer of the lyricist. Between the question and answer, the tone of voice connects without pause. It can be called "cross-piece frame". The word "report" in the sentence "I report that the road is long and contemplates the sunset" and the word "ask" in the previous piece are the bridge between the two pieces. The phrase "I report that the road is long and the day is dusk" reflects the lonely and painful experience of the lyricist in his later years, but it also has its own origin. Combined with his own life, the lyricist encapsulates Qu Yuan's sentiment of not being afraid of long-distance journeys and only seeking a long day in order to find the Emperor of Heaven, and not hesitating to "search up and down" as expressed in Li Sao, by using only the words "the road is long" and "the day is dusk" to summarize his feelings. With only the words "the road is long" and "sunset", the idea and process of "searching up and down" are summarized, and the language is simple, pure and natural, without any trace. The meaning is connected with "I have amazing lines when I learn poetry", which is the bitter feeling of the lyricist who complained about his empty talent and misfortune in front of the emperor. The word "谩" reveals a strong dissatisfaction with reality. Lyricist in reality, difficult to meet with the voice, want to tell no door, only through this form of fantasy, in order to fully express the indignation of the chest, talent is not met is the fate of the traditional Chinese literati. Although Li Qingzhao is a woman, but as an outstanding writer who was born at the wrong time, she also has similar feelings.

"Ninety thousand miles of wind Peng is lifting", from the dialog to go down, but still not away from the main line. Said "roc is lifting", is a further foil to the gale , from real to imaginary, the image is more and more magnificent, the more magnificent realm. In the roc is lifted at the moment, the words suddenly and shouted: "the wind rests, Peng boat blowing to take the three mountains to go!" The momentum is magnificent, a forward-looking, can be called a masterpiece. "Boat", said as light as a small boat of grass, extremely said that the boat by the lightness of the boat. "Three mountains" refers to the three immortal mountains in the Bohai Sea, namely, Penglai, Fangzhang and Yingzhou, which are rumored to be inhabited by immortals, and can be seen by looking at them, but when they go by boat, they will be led away by the wind when they are close to each other, and no one can reach them at last. The lyricist turned over the old canon out of a new idea dare to borrow the Peng Tuan nine days of wind, blowing to the three mountains, the boldness of the great, the realm of the high, rare in the word. The first piece of writing the emperor asked the lyricist where to return to, and here explains the immortal mountain in the sea as the lyricist's home. The first and the second echoed each other, and the structure is meticulous.

This song integrates real life feelings into the dream world, and puts Qu Yuan's "Li Sao", Zhuang Zi's "Free Journey" and even myths and legends into the Gongshang, so that the dream and the life, the history and the reality merge into one, which constitutes a grand and majestic mood, and fully demonstrates the author's unrestrained nature.

Works Appreciation 2

This poem, titled "Remembering Dreams" in the Selected Words of Huaan, is Li Qingzhao's only bold and freewheeling poem, and it is the work of Li Qingzhao after her crossing over to the south. Generally speaking, the words written by Li Qingzhao after her crossing to the south are all depressing and sorrowful, but this one is an exception.

Li Qingzhao's husband, Zhao Mingcheng, died soon after she went south. The destruction of the country and the death of her husband, so that her life and the spirit of a great blow, from then on, she drifted south of the river, lonely and lonely through her difficult years of old age, in the "road long contempt of sunset" predicament. But she is a straightforward character, soft and strong, unwilling to be bound by the reality of life, so sometimes the wings of the imagination flew into another world. She fantasized a way to make the spirit of the road, in order to get rid of the world that the road ahead of the uncertainty, do not see any hope of the situation. So she dreamed of crossing the clouds and mist, crossing the heavenly river, returning to the emperor's palace, and riding the ten thousand miles of wind to the immortal mountains. This kind of boldness, extraordinary feat, makes the lyrics show a romantic mood, bold style, and her other lyrics style is very different.

The word begins with: "The sky is connected with the clouds and fog, and the starry river wants to turn a thousand sails to dance." It is a magnificent scenery like a fairyland. Here, "Star River", that is, the Milky Way. It means that the sky is connected with the clouds that roll like waves, and these clouds are connected with the morning mist, making the dawn color hazy. And through the clouds and fog far away, the Milky Way in the waves, like to make the whole river turned over. Many sailboats in the river in the rolling waves upside down, sails swinging like dancing in the Milky Way. This is about the clouds in the sky, which can be described as a thousand different colors. Although it is written in the author's dream fantasy of natural scenery, but this fantasy is undoubtedly in her life path through the difficulties and obstacles, the pain of migration prompted by the subconscious. Therefore, in it there is both a magnificent side and a treacherous side. It shows an open realm of morning mist, tumbling clouds, rolling Milky Way, and a thousand sails racing across the river. This realm is like a fairyland, and the author is experiencing in this fairyland. Therefore, it also gradually makes her dream soul seem to go back to the palace where the heavenly emperor lives. -- "As if her dreaming soul returned to the palace of the emperor." "Emperor's place" refers to the palace where the Heavenly Emperor resides. In fact, this is the beautiful future that people hope for and pursue after all the hardships they have gone through. The reason why she dreamed of going back to the palace of the emperor has its ideological roots. Ancient poets often envisioned themselves as coming from the heavenly palace, so when they fantasized about a better future, they often said, "I will go back to the emperor's place". For example, Su Shi's "Song of Water" says: "I don't know the palace in the sky, what year is this evening? I want to ride the wind to go home,......," that is, he wanted to go back to the emperor's palace. So, the author's soul to go back to the emperor's palace, how is the situation?

"I heard the words of heaven, and earnestly asked me where to return." She heard the Heavenly Emperor speaking to her, attentively asking her where to return to. Li Qingzhao has been drifting to the ends of the earth since she crossed the South China Sea, and has been ostracized and battered, and has tasted the eyes of the world, and now the Heavenly Emperor is so attentive to her, making her feel how warm she is! The author wrote this, no matter how his subjective motives, objectively has made a sharp contrast between heaven and earth, ridiculed the dark reality of society. In her years of escape, how many things, by whom to tell? This time, she got a chance to talk about it. This leads to the next part of the lyric, where she talks about her difficulties and wishes.

"I report that the road is long and contemplates the sunset, and I learn poetry and have amazing sentences." Meaning: I tell the Emperor of Heaven that the distance I have traveled is very long, and it is now dusk and I have not yet arrived. Even if I learn poetry and can write amazing lines, what is the use? The previous sentence, "The road is long in contempt of sunset," is from Qu Yuan's Li Sao: "I want to stay less in this Ling Zuo Ruoxi, but the sun is suddenly approaching its twilight. ...... Road Manman its cultivation far Ruoxi, I will go up and down and seek." The author takes this opportunity to express himself on the road of life in the twilight of the road far, at a loss as to what to do. Here with a "contempt" word, vividly showing her worried and anxious demeanor. In the next sentence, "谩有" means "empty" or "futile". This sentence contains two layers of meaning: one is to lament their own talent but can not be used for the world, the feeling of talent; the second is the social unrest, the article is useless, there is Li He, "Thirteen Songs of the South Park" in the "Liao Liao sea, the article where the meaning of crying in the autumn wind". The two are like opposites, in fact, unity, is the cause and effect of each other. So, since the author has such bitter feelings, how does she hope to be relieved? Please see:

"The winds of 90,000 miles are lifting the roc. When the wind stops blowing, the boat will take the three mountains." She wants to fly high and far like the roc on the 10,000-mile wind and leave that sordid society. She told the wind not to stop blowing, and blew her boat to the immortal mountains, so that she could live a free and easy life. The phrase "90,000 Leagues of Wind" is from "Zhuangzi: A Journey to the Promised Land": "The roc's back is not known for thousands of miles. The roc's back, I do not know how many thousands of miles it is, but it flies in anger, and its wings are like clouds hanging down in the sky. ...... The roc's migration in the South Hades also, the water hit three thousand li, and beat the 90,000 li." "Rotary" is the name of the wind. "Nine" is an imaginary number, meaning many. This sentence indicates that the author has the ambition of the roc to fly high. "Peng Boat" is a small boat that spins lightly like the fluffy grass. "Three Mountains" refers to the three legendary sacred mountains of Penglai, Fangzhang and Yingzhou. The three mountains are in the Bohai Sea, where the immortals live. Why does the author dream of going to the three mountains? Is it due to the negative thoughts of traveling to the immortals? No, it is not. Judging from the meaning of the above, it was because she felt that "the road is long and the sun is dwindling, and there are no amazing lines in her poetic studies". That is to say, although she has talent, ideal, ambition, but in the real world simply can not be realized and show, can not find a way out, which prompted her to think so. It can be seen that her dream of fairyland is a manifestation of her dissatisfaction with the dark reality. She wants to go back to the fairyland where there is no turmoil, no sadness, no loneliness and no pain, which precisely reflects the reality of war, killing, fraud, loneliness and isolation on earth. Therefore, her kind of thought activity is not negative, but positive and realistic.

This lyric, with its open-mindedness, rich imagination, and expansive mood, is full of romanticism. It brings the reader to the fairy realm, to see the rich and colorful clouds and waves; the vast realm of the roc spreading its wings for ten thousand miles, and the beautiful scenery of the light boat blowing towards the three mountains on the wind, which makes people mesmerized. This kind of romanticism work which borrows the realm of gods and immortals to express one's bosom is extremely rare in Li's words.

Li Qingzhao is a female writer of the euphemistic school, can write such a bold word, in addition to the chaos of the world forced her to come out of the social cabinet, face the reality of these objective reasons, there are also her subjective factors, that is, her thinking is active, open-minded, dare to think and dare to say; at the same time, she has read a lot of books, memory is very strong, uncommon words and phrases, stories, can remember, which enriched her image of thought, so that she has a good understanding of various myths, legends and stories, and the world of the gods. So she can use all kinds of myths and legends and allusions freely to write her own pursuit of freedom and the wish for a better life, thus constituting the romantic mood and the grandeur of the bold words.

Works Appreciation3

Li Qingzhao is a female writer who can represent the Wanjiao school, and her works such as The Sound of the Voice and Drunken Blossom Yin are familiar masterpieces. Most of these words are about bosom feelings, and its style is implicit and euphemistic. However, there is also a special style of her "Fisherman's Pride", which is a bold and unrestrained word. She used the feelings of "Li Sao" and "Faraway Journey" to write a small order, which is not only not found in the words of the Five Dynasties, but also rarely seen in the words of the Northern Song Dynasty. It is indeed noteworthy that a female lyricist of the Euphemism school was able to write such a spirited work.

The whole poem is about a dream. The first two lines are about the scene of the sea at dawn. No one had ever described the sea in a lyric before Li Qingzhao. The two lines of "the sky catching the clouds and waves" use the three verbs "catch", "turn" and "dance" to write about the moving realm of the sea and the sky. The two lines use three verbs. "The starry river wants to turn" points out that the time is approaching dawn. "Thousands of sails dancing" is about gale force winds, which is not a scene in the river. Maybe because Li Qingzhao is from Shandong, she has seen and heard more about the sea, so she writes such a realm. The third line of the first piece, "As if my dream soul returned to the emperor's place", means: I was the person who came from the emperor, and now I have returned to the emperor's place. This has the same meaning as the word "return" in Su Shi's "Song of Water Tunes" (水调歌头), which means "I want to go back by the wind" in the middle of autumn. "Where to return" sentence, with "attentive" two words, write the goodwill of the emperor, causing the next piece of the change of head "I report the road long contempt for the sunset" two sentences of emotion. Li Sao": "want to stay less in this spirit Zuo Ruoxi, the day will be twilight. ...... Road Manman its repair far Ruoxi, I will go up and down and seek". This is the source of Li Qingzhao's sentence "The road is long and the sun is dusk". The meaning of this sentence is that people are not free in the world, especially women in the feudal era, even if they learn poetry with amazing lines ("谩有" means "empty"), it is still "the road is long and the sun is drowning". Even though she has learned some amazing lines from the poem, it is still "the road is long and the sun is dusk", and she cannot find the realm of her understanding. The last few lines say: look at the roc has been soaring high above the 90,000 miles of wind; the wind heh, can not stop blowing it, blow my sailboat to Penglai three islands to go ("90,000 miles of wind" sentence with the "Zhuangzi? The sentence "90,000 miles of wind" is used in Zhuangzi's "Journey to the Promenade", which says that the roc is "ninety thousand miles upward in a tumbleweed", and nine is an imaginary number)!

Li Qingzhao is a female writer of the euphemistic school, how could she write such a bold work? In the feudal society, women lived under all kinds of restrictions, even a highly cultivated and talented female writer like Li Qingzhao could not get rid of this fate, which would undoubtedly make her feel bored and suffocated. She composed two songs of Linjiang Xian, both of which use Ouyang Xiu's idiom "How deep is the courtyard" as the starting line, which is probably to express her boredom. She asked for relief and a broad spiritual realm. This lyric fully expresses her longing for freedom and her pursuit of light. However, this kind of wish was impossible to be realized in the real life of the time she lived in, so she could only put it on the illusory realm of immortals in her dream and seek a way out in this realm. However, at that time, it was rare for a woman to be restless with the destiny assigned to her by the society, and to boldly put forward the demand of breaking through the bondage and yearning for freedom. In history, it was rare among women in feudal society.

This boldly styled poem, with its broad mood and rich imagination, is indeed a good piece of romanticism. The fact that it was written by a writer of the Euphemism school makes it even more remarkable. So this achievement is undoubtedly determined by the author's actual life encounters and her kind of desire to break through this kind of life of thought and feeling; this is by no means no real life feelings and pretend to be bold words can be written.

Background

This poem was written after Li Qingzhao's crossing to the south. According to the "After Preface of Jinshi Lu", in the spring of 1130 A.D. (the fourth year of Song Gaozong's Jianyan reign), Li Qingzhao was sailing on the sea, experiencing all the dangers of wind and waves. The words about the sea, the boat ride, and the characters, including the emperor and the poet herself, are all related to the feelings gained from this real-life experience. According to Chen Zumei's "Li Qingzhao's Concise Chronology", this poem was written in 1130 AD (the fourth year of Jianyan).
