How is celadon made?
Celadon is a traditional China porcelain, which is famous for its color and texture. Its color has been pushed to the whole collection market because of its scarcity, and it has become a treasure in porcelain art because of its source, history and production technology. So, how is celadon made? The following will be introduced from raw materials, molding, firing and other aspects.
1, raw materials
Turquoise powder is one of the essential raw materials for making celadon. Its composition mainly includes silica, quartz, feldspar, mica, clay, thorium and so on. A certain amount of metal elements such as iron, zirconium, titanium and lithium are also needed to strengthen raw materials.
Step 2 form
The prepared raw materials are crushed and sieved step by step according to the porcelain-making process, and then mixed into mud, and then diluent, caliper, etc. are added and adjusted in proportion to meet the requirements of embryo density. Then there are some preliminary processes, such as embryo passing, kneading and humidity regulation. And then molding. The main process of this step is the proportion of the legs and the body of the container. After molding, it should go through the process of natural air drying and air drying.
3, firing
The made porcelain needs to be fired at high temperature to form hard ceramics and create the unique color and texture of celadon. Black kilns are generally used for firing celadon in Chinese style or washing celadon in thin line. First, put the made utensils into the kiln according to the size, and then block the openings and caves at the kiln head and kiln tail. Don't burn your legs to 800℃ (oxidation) at once. On the contrary, the temperature is lowered for more than 40 hours for drying and heat preservation precipitation.
After setting the data, you can start normal firing. When opening the furnace, coal should be put into the furnace, and then ignited to control the heat. After 70-80 hours of firing, celadon is finished.
4. Summary
To sum up, the process of making celadon is very complicated and requires great skill. It requires the artist's careful selection and mixing of raw materials and exquisite molding and firing technology to achieve the ideal effect. Only after a long history of precipitation, coupled with outstanding porcelain-making technology, can a great artistic treasure-celadon be born.
