What is a Chinese tunic suit?

Zhongshan suit, also known as Zhongshan suit, is named after the style that Dr. Sun Yat-sen once wore. It has been more than 90 years since 1923. Sun Yat-sen proposed that the Zhongshan suit was transformed from the "enterprise-led suit" popular in Southeast Asia at that time. Starting from the trial-produced tunic suit, every detail has its own specific new China cultural connotation, which is loved by the public men in China.

1923, when Dr. Sun Yat-sen was the Grand Marshal of China Revolutionary Government in Guangzhou, he felt that the suit was not only inconvenient to wear, but also unsuitable for the actual requirements of the people in China at that time. At that time, the popular "traditional costumes" in China, such as big-breasted gowns, double-breasted shorts and trousers, could not fully show the spiritual outlook of the people of China after the overthrow of the imperial system, and they also had similar shortcomings in practice.

After long-term consideration, Dr. Sun Yat-sen put forward a slightly improved scheme on the basis of the "business collar dress" coat popular in Southeast Asia at that time (that is, the youth dress that is no longer popular now): adding a lapel to the business collar instead of the hard collar of a suit shirt, so that a coat has the functions of a suit jacket, a shirt and a hard collar; The three hidden pockets of the "business collar dress" coat have been changed into four open pockets, and the two open pockets below have also been cut into the style of "piano pockets", which can expand and contract with the number of items put in. From the trial-produced Zhongshan suit, every detail has its specific new cultural connotation. According to the concept that democracy, separation of five powers, four-dimensional country, Three People's Principles and China Revolution need intellectuals to participate in the founding of the country, the front skirt of Zhongshan suit has five buttons, four pockets and three cuff links, and the chest pocket is set on an inverted pen rack.

The trousers designed by Dr. Sun Yat-sen are: split at the front, fastened with concealed buttons, with a large concealed pocket at the left and right, and a smaller concealed pocket at the belt (commonly known as "watch pocket"). Dig a hidden bag on the left and right hips and use a soft cover.

Dr. Sun Yat-sen's personal tailor, Huang Longsheng, cut and sewed the first suit of Chinese tunic suit in China and even the world. Dr. Sun Yat-sen said that this "new dress" retains some advantages of western-style clothes, and has a distinctive national style in China, which makes it look solemn and inflexible on any occasion. Since then, Chinese tunic suit has been called the "national costume" of China by foreigners.
