History of Laiyang

Laiyang Prefecture was established in 1950.
In 1956, Wendeng and Laiyang Prefecture were merged into Laiyang Prefecture.
In 1958 Laiyang Prefecture and Yantai City merged to form Yantai District.
On February 20, 1987, Laiyang County was abolished to establish Laiyang City.
