Why Chinese hanboks are not popular, while western-style clothes have become mainstream

This question actually has two levels. First, why the mainstream Chinese clothing nowadays is not traditional Chinese clothing (especially Hanbok), but Western clothing; and second, why Hanbok is not popular in the world. To understand the first question, it is first necessary to understand how western clothes gradually replaced traditional Chinese clothes in Chinese history.

It is well known that traditional Chinese clothing is not static, but constantly changing to suit the practicality and beauty of the scene. From Zhao Wuling's "tiger-fighting" during the Warring States period, to the dyeing and weaving process of the Han Dynasty, to the Qing army's entry into the custom, the Han people were forced to shave their faces and wear clothes. Ancient Chinese dress has changed constantly. These changes have been recorded in historical materials, such as the Old Tang Dynasty Book of Fishermen, "The music of Hu was very popular. The nobles ate all the food from Hu. All the scholars and women competed for clothes."

Song Dynasty scholar Zhu Xi also said "Today's public **** service is a barbarian military service. It was imported into China from the end of the Wuhu period." So when it came to the late Qing Dynasty, when East and West met, people naturally fused and remodeled their costumes, just like the ancients before them. For example, Kang Youwei once wrote, "Please prohibit women from wrapping their feet" and "Please break your hair and replace your clothes with Yuan folds," believing that women could not work because they could not wrap their feet; their braids were long and drooping, which was not conducive to machine production; their clothes were wide, their belts were wide, and their skirts were long and elegant, all of which were not conducive to competition among countries. These are not conducive to competition among countries, and their clothing is not easy for people to accept and implement new policies.

Finally, western-style clothes are very practical in modern life, easy to promote in the labor group. With the accelerated pace of production and life, western-style clothes have completely replaced traditional Chinese clothes. However, it should be noted that the development of Chinese traditional clothing is not only the integration and absorption of western-style clothes. On the one hand, our culture and aesthetics gradually accepted the suit. On the other hand, litigation entered China and became a habit which changed itself to meet the daily needs of the Chinese people.

In the evolution of these clothes, this was mainly because the Hanfu only conformed to the habits of an agricultural society, far from the life of an industrial society. For example, the wide sleeves of Hanbok caused great inconvenience to modern life. In addition, Hanbok is not as cool as short-sleeved T-shirt and not as warm as down jacket. It is cool in winter and warm in summer. This is unacceptable.
